Market's Place , Jalan Yap Kwan Seng KL
Its been a while since I promised the owner of this new found place that I'll do a write up about it. Sorry Andrew for keeping you waiting. The atmosphere and the ambience here is really superb and coupled with some great tasting dishes and deserts, this place would soon emerge to be one of the place to be seen in , giving places like Lafite and Franggipanni a run for their money.
This restaurant is located in an old refurbished bungalow. Looking rather chic , with good layout of furnitures, colours and a comfortable chill it place on the first floor , it is indeed a good place to chill out for drinks and of course the interesting array of fusion med-styled food on offer.
For starters, diners are welcome to fill themselves up with an array of complimentary salads and some pasta too. Since its complimentary, don't expect some cheap looking stuff on offer, but the selection is rather impressive in terms of quality and taste . Hats off to Andrew here !!
Left : The complimentary starter on offer. Great tasting potato salad. Right : Good pasta from the starter table.
For mains we had a sampler. This is the current trend in modern restaurants to offer the best of their offerings in small sampling portions to be sampled. In this way we get the best of everything from their kitchen has to offer. The sampler set came with grilled prawns, lamb and beef as well as some eggplants to go.
Left : My frens enjoying the sampler. Right : Me and Olivia ( She is still available any takers ??? hehe . Sorry Oli :)- )
Next we had a beef tenderloin with spinach and pear (If i get it correct, sorry little memories now a days ).This small sized tenderloin really live it up to its name, with an interesting match between the spinach and the stewed pear really gives an interesting fresh fruity taste to the already excellent beef. A word of advise, this is for small eater.... if you are a big eater, there is always the complimentary starter table.
Ended our dinner with a great tasting Chocolate Mousse served in Martini glass. This mousse id made fresh upon order and you can really taste the smoothness in it unlike some ready made ones. Its very rich and thick, as if you are eating some melt in your mouth prailines. And the edition of some passion fruits seeds on top really adds an interesting and refreshing touch to it. Another 10/10 here from me. There is even a resident sax player, filling up the air with some romantic Jazz tunes. The perfect place for new love birds or soon to be love birds. So singles if you wanna win over a womens heart u know where to go huh ????
Left : Great wine for accompany. Right : Also has a resident sax player serenading great Jazz tunes.
After dinner we proceed to up stairs for some chill out on the comfy sofa and great music courtesy of an in house Caucasian DJ. Joined by Andrew, we chilled out with some great drinks mixed by Andrew himself, thanks to skills picked up during his days as club manager. Overall a great night with great food.
The owner of this great place, Andrew with my 2 lovely sweeties.
Direction : Its situated along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. For KL dummies , its the road where the Australian High Comm is, directly opposite KLCC, beside the Public Bank Building. If you are coming in thru Jalan Ampang, turn right at the traffic light. Go pass the Australian High COmm on our left, then you'll see Kampung Pandan Kari Kepala Ikan , make a left turn follow by another left turn. You cant miss it. Plenty of parking space opposite.
