Germany trip - Koln ( Cologne )

Cologne ( Koln ) ...... does this name sounds familiar ?? Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, and is the largest city both in the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than 10 million inhabitants. It is one of the oldest cities in Germany, having been founded by the Romans in the year 30 BCE. Cologne was granted the status of a Roman "city" in the year 50 CE. Till today there is a bitter rivalry between Cologne and Dussedolf , as both of them are only 30km away and both fighting to be the dominant one. Cologne is a larger city , but not an economic power house as Dussedolf is. Cologne is also the birth place of the legendary 4711 eau de cologne....theres how the word came about..named after this beautiful city.

My Germany Trip- July 2007 ( Weilburg/Wetzlar )

Continuation from my Italy trip was to Germany for a world conference for dealers and stockist for Buderus Edelstahl , the biggest plastic mould steel manufacturer in Europe. This conference was held in a beautiful small town Weilburg located about 100km away from Frankfurt. Arriving from Venice by Ryan Air , we landed at Frankfurt Hahn airport. Dont be fooled by its name...its located very far away from Frankfurt, and it took us 1 1/2 hours by taxi to the conference site . Luckily the taxi was courtesy of the organizer, if not we would be € 400 poorer as taxi's in Germany is very expensive ..

Can you spot me ??? No prizes for correct answer !!!!

After our official dinner, we were entertained to a classical concert by a Japanese chronographer.....

Malaysia Boleh !!!! Malaysia ( tak ) boleh !!!!!

Left : Shame!! Shame !! Headlines on our football team..compares to RIGHT : Our junior badminton tea,

MALAYSIA BOLEH !!!! MALAYSIA ( TAK ) BOLEH !!!!

Was kinda sad and humorous seing the newspaper this few days reporting on the current state of our beloved(not) national football team. With headlines like " Its only a misery for host ", " Malaysia hit the skids " , " Shameful " etc.... we cant blame anbody , but ourselves.

We'he heard " from rags to riches "..but I've found a new word for our dismay national football team ... " From fame to lame ". I myself played football when I was young, and ofcourse I supported our national team at that time. If you fellow fans, have remembered we were at least the SEA Games football champion back in 1989, when KL hosted it, also on 1991 when Malaysia gave England a good fight , even we lost 4-2 , wth the Sabah lass, Matlan Marjan scoring 2 goals pass Chris Woods then..I could clearly remember the roar in Stadium Merdeka then.....but things went downhill when we lost to then-whipping boys Philipines 1-0 at the 1991 games.

At least our FAM VP, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Abdullah , did the honorary by resigned from his post and accepted his failure .should the council folow the same ??? I think its about time that our FAM be run by professional ..be coached by a real professional coach , unlike now getting the Malaysia Cup champion coach as our national coach...living up to the "Jaguh Kampung" name ???

I really hope when our national team , would one day fwake up and climb back up the stairs in the latest FIFA rankings, from now 154 ( new record !! )...to the days when we were one of the top teams in Asia, feared by even the Koreans and Japanese.....

At least we have our our national junior team winning the Rakan Muda Yonex Sunrise Asian Junior Championships, well at least we have something to be proud of. Hope that our football team would one day join the league of some of our national sportsman/women and teams like our Badminton, hockey and bowling team..as well as people like Nicol David and Shanlin etc..whom qualifies to use the name " Malaysia Boleh''......

In the mean time..dont feel proud wearing the yellow black jersey with our FAM logo bearing the tiger...you dont deserve to wear it...... I think wearing a logo with a sang kancil or a tikus would be better for the time being.........

A new FAM logo. Curi from Kenny Ng

Now everybody can fly..... ???

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Seems like that Air Asia doesnt live up to their motto " now everybody can fly ' anymore. I was both sad and angry when I read the article (click here) on Page 14, Nation , The Star,Monday 16 July 2007 article. Despite our government effort to help the needy and the less fortunate, why cant just Air Asia follow ? Rather than to take passengers who were completely immobile , why cant they just carry them up ? Other than just focusing on making $$ ( they charge RM12 for renting out a wheel chair , which passengers could use to go fromthe ticketing counter to the departure hall) Why cant they show some caring attitude to the handicapped , and I was just wondering , who ever make this decision , did they ever put themself into their shoes ?? Talking about social responsibility here ????

We the able bodies , should stand up for our wheel chair bound friends of the Barrier Free Environment and Accesible Transport Group ( BEAT ) . To get a better understanding on BEAT click here .

DISCLAIMER : The above post is made purely as an expression of my own feelings and thoughts and doesn't represent anything. The facts and figure above are however is best to my knowledge from newspaper reading ( see link above )

UPDATES : Read today newspaper.... now the disabled can fly after all. Air Asia has finally seen the need for disabled flyers and has takes steps to address this matter by investing RM6 million to install ambulift and provide wheelchair . Syabas Datuk Tony. Good job !! Syabas also to BEAT for winning another war.... one down more to go !!!!

Kari Kepala Ikan- Kapar, Klang,Selangor

Its been a while since I blog something about food...guess that it's not been in my mind for quite a while..guess that the feel comes back again...so keep on reading dor some yummy mouth watering reviews..

This outlet has been around for years and its been exceptionally popular with lunch crowd around Meru/Kapar , especially for curry fish head lovers. The place is very well planned with a waterfall situated in its main entrance giving its visitors a feeling of calmness and the much needed cooling effect to counter its awaiting fiery curry experience. The stall is operated by an Indian family. There may not be air conditioning, but there are plenty of trees surrounding the area, making it quite cool.

Me and my partner, ordered a fish head curry for the two persons and fried baby shark. Papadum and accompanying vegetable dish comes standard with the banana leaf rice fare.
After taking in the tantalising aromas from the cooking for15 minutes, we were finally served with all the dishes. The fish head was the size of a tiger’s paw, and it tasted very good. The curry flavour was strong and yet not overly spicy with hints of sourness either from the tomatoes or assam used. The fish was fresh and was garnished with ladies’ fingers. This place also serves other dishes like fried deer meat ( Chinese style, yummy ) , prawn sambal, roast lamb shoulder, stuffed crabs shell etc.....

As for the price, this place doesn’t comes cheap , but it is certainly one of the best in terms of gastronomical satisfaction. The lunch costs us about RM20 per person but it was well worth it. This place opens for lunch at noon. I suggest you get there early as the crowd starts to come in after 1230pm . Oh yes, their Meru pineapple is also to die for.....

How do i get there ??? Drive along Jalan Kapar heading towards Kapar town. If you are coming in from town side, drive past Bata factory ( if you see it on the left side you are on the right track ). Drive further up till u pass a Projet station on your right. From Projet drive up for another few kilometres and look out for a furniture shop with a big globe outside. The well kept secret is just nest to the furniture shop. Its facing a TNB field.

Damage : Other than putting another extra pounds and possibility of getting Curry Withdrawal Syndrome ( the curry is very addicitive ) , you have been warned !!. Prepare to pay about RM20/person for a decent meal, for a fish head , a drink and a side dish as well.
